The First Loss

On September 4, 2004 De La Salle traveled to Seattle, WA for the Inaugural Emerald City Kickoff Classic played at Qwest Field (home of the Seahawks) to open the season.  De La Salle played Bellevue (WA), the 5th and final game played that weekend and lost 39-20 before 24,987 fans.  Bellevue did not attempt a pass, rushing for 463 yards and led at the half 30-20.  Bellevue would finish the 2004 season undefeated with their 4th consecutive state title, but finished # 2 nationally behind Southlake Carroll (TX) most likely because De La Salle would go on to lose three games and tie twice in 2004.  The week after losing to Bellevue De La Salle lost to Clovis West (Fresno) 30-12 and the next week tied Palma 7-7.  Two weeks later De La Salle lost to Mission Viejo 17-14 and would go on to tie Clayton Valley (Concord) 17-17.  De La Salle would finish the 2004 season 8-3-2.  The senior players on the 2004 team were in kindergarten the last time De La Salle lost a game.
