Grid-hoopster Royce Freeman broke the section football career records in rushing yards, touchdowns and points scored. But it is Freeman’s performance on the field that is most amazing. And Freeman can throw the ball and punt the ball; sounds a lot like Helix’s Reggie Bush ’03. Except Royce Freeman has the size to be an every down back.
One coach reportedly said that if Reggie Bush and Ricky Williams had a baby, it would come out like Royce Freeman. One term used to describe Freeman is man-child.
Imperial’s football head coach Kerry Legarra described the first time he saw Freeman. Legarra was watching a girl’s basketball tournament on campus and at halftime he saw Freeman taking shots and Legarra assumed he was a college student; he knew Freeman was special when he found out he was only an eighth grader.
Freeman’s size will compliment the speed of Oregon’s game very well next year. And Freeman’s goal of playing on Sunday is not only likely but he will probably play a few games in Hawaii in February.
