CIF-San Diego Section Girls’ Soccer
A Brief Historical Timeline
1981-82: Inaugural season, played in the spring. Ten schools competed.
1983-84: Moved from the spring to the winter season.
1983-84: First year for two divisions (class 3A and 2A).
1987-88: Section’s advisory committee request for the Southern California playoffs was rejected by CIF.
1990-91: First year for four divisions (divisions I, II, III, IV).
2007-08: Inaugural season for the Southern California regional playoffs.
2007-08: Section championships can no longer end in a tie because of the Southern California regional playoffs.
2010-11: Fifth division is added (division I, II, III, IV, V).
