Comments:  Most of the sell out crowd came to see Chase Budinger and he didn’t disappoint.  Budinger had monster dunks while scoring 50 points, 14 rebounds; which included several 3-balls.  La Costa Canyon won 85-73, their inaugural CIF section championship since opening in 1996.  Budinger was a 3-time CIF-San Diego section player of the year.

The sell out crowd at USD’s Jenny Craig Pavilion watched Budinger sink many 3-balls and several dunks.

Highlights: 2006 McDonald’s Slam Dunk Contest at SDSU’s Peterson Gym


Comments: Budinger was the runner-up in the slam dunk contest to Gerald Henderson.  Budinger received perfect scores with the first two dunks to reach the three player final round.  In the final round, of the five judges, the two east coast judges gave Budinger a “9” while the three celebrity judges (including LaDamian Tomlinson) gave Budinger a “10”.

Comments:  Budinger was the Co-MVP of the McDonald’s game with Kevin Durant.  Budinger scored 11 points with 4 assists.

Comments:  This was the last game played as a La Costa Canyon Maverick.  Chase Budinger did miss a fairly close shot at the buzzer allowing the South team to win.

Comments: Budinger broke the all-time CIF-San Diego Section scoring record with 2,930 points; Budinger was 5th all-time in California in 2006.  And Chase Budinger was the national volleyball player of the year in 2006.

Highlights: Senior Season Volleyball

vs. Parker (San Diego, CA)


Comments:  Budinger was the 2006 national volleyball player of the year.  In one of the video clips Parker’s Garret Muagututia ’06 (UCLA volleyball), a friend and club teammate of Budinger, spikes a kill past Budinger.

 

La Costa Canyon and Parker are the two most successful boys’ volleyball programs in San Diego; # 1 and # 2 in most CIF-San Diego Section championships.
